As Chris announced at the meeting last night, I will be giving a 
public lecture at 2:00 on Sunday, September 14, at the Ames Public 
Library. It will be a lecture for the general public about recent 
developments in physics and astronomy that has led to the astonishing 
result that only five percent of the matter and energy in the 
universe is visible to us.  Experiments that are just starting hope 
to address some of these issues, and this talk is intended to set the 
scene for possible new results you may be reading about in the coming months.

It is non-technical, but assumes an interest in science and a 
willingness to stretch your mind.

It is NOT a scout activity and is not required in any way.  I'm 
sending this notice for the benefit of those who might be interested.
